Guests: Dr. Doug Dinwiddie (our speaker) Becky Dinwiddie (his wife), Jeanne Uhles, Anne and Sam Beeby, Scott McKibble, Sudie Kennedy. Glen Ouzts, Brad Chadwick and Jevoen Van Ness (both of Freeport-McMoRan).
Announcements: Peter F. handed out donation envelopes to members in attendance and explained that the envelopes and the contribution forms enclosed in them were designed to make donations to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund as easy as possible. All that's needed is to fill in the donation amount and the information about payment by check or credit card on the contribution form. Then it only takes a stamp to mail the envelope to The Rotary Foundation.
Happy Dollars:
Sunny: "Three happy dollars--today is my 75th birthday so $75.00 for that and I've added $25 to to make it $100 to recognize the club centennial. Also, Linda Telaak is celebrating 34 years in Rotary and that merits another $34."
Maggie: "I kissed a reindeer through my car window last weekend" and she showed us a picture to prove it.!"
Peter F. "The gala was great and the committee under Maggie's leadership did a wonderful job in organizing it."

Carlos introduced Doug Dinwiddie and his wife, Becky.
Dr. Dinwiddie gave us a brief summary of the history of Fort Bayard, from its start as a military fort to its conversion as a tuberculosis hospital and later a veterans hospital and then a nursing home administered by the State of New Mexico. The state has now given control of Fort Bayard to the Village of Santa Clara. The Fort Bayard Historic Preservation Society has worked for a number of years to help maintain the property and to document its history. The Society was instrumental in gaining recognition of Fort Bayard as a National Historic Landmark.
