St. Patrick's Day Party

Friday, March 17th at 5:30 p.m. at Sunny and Harry Kellerman's house.

 

There will be a recognition of teachers and staff employees in the school district. First in individual schools, then district. Out of eight teachers chosen for district level, one will be selected to go to the state level. School District will be giving the final winner a gift.

Question is: would Rotary want to be involved. 

Will and Niel will be the leaders on this.

Discussion: Possibly use "Woof n Wheel" (dog and car wash) fundraiser $$ to enable a gift (cash)? to winner. Also give some to Cobre School District, which hosts district meetings and has need of money to buy coffee, etc. for meetings. (nothing in their budget for this.) Volunteers are needed--Niel, Maggie, Art, and Niel's kids. Date probably early May; location--First Savings Bank. $10.00 fee per dog, plus a tip jar for donations.

 

Tom:  Hygiene Project--still collecting hygiene supplies as we wind up on our District Grant.  Dentists, especially Drs. Porter and Silver Smiles have contributed a lot. Niel will draft a thank you letter from the club. Further discussion as to including vision and hearing tests for students, possibly combining with the Lions club on vision tests.  Nurses need to be asked what supplies are most needed as the club needs to set limits on what we supply.

No objections were voiced, so the hygiene project will continue. 

Tom also said the Commons is doing well, 65 volunteers and apparently not in need of our help as before. 

 

Art: Trying to set up a concert for polio, perhaps on September 30, Light Hall is available.  No objections noted.

 

By-Laws: Peter F. briefly explained the changes. He had emailed  the proposed new by-laws on February 5, so they can be re-read. There were no dissenting votes, so new by-laws and constitution passed. 

 

Peter H.  Tina, my wife, is having an opening at an art gallery in Palm Springs starting today.  Also, Francisca Reyes (former member) sends a hello to everyone from Riverside, Ca.

Tom: Ladies at Aunt Judy's Attic made quilts for three of us veterans; wrapped us in them and took pictures!

Lucy: Tom Bates is the new photographer to take pictures of our guests.

 

Maggie: We will meet at Q's on March 7 and 14. Spring break week of 14th and Sunset Room not available on the 7th. 

Sodexo has a change of fees. After discussion, motion was made and seconded to eat from the cafeteria line only. Cashier will have members names. The charge will be $10.75 per person (paid as usual-billed by Maggie. There will also be a $25.00 setup fee per week.

 

Jim: Foundation Board is moving money into two CD's at First Savings Bank.

One for 90 days, and one for a year at 4%.
