July 12,2022 meeting:
The July 12, 2022 meeting was called to order by President Niel McDonald.
The many guests introduced themselves as follows:
Guests: Clara Khan, Linda Lowrance, Ken Lowrance, Anacaite Caperton, Nancy Cliff, Janet Ramirez, Don White, Luis Alvarez, Dave Vonopnick, all from Silver City area.

Announcements:
Jack Isbell said he committed $10,000.00 to be used in the Juarez area shelters that Doug Winters is helping. He indicated that he would like to use some of that money to encourage additional donations by offering it for a matching fund program.  
Tom Bates is giving $15,000.to the same cause.
 
Kathy said the RFE visitors are back to 9, as one more single woman is coming; so one more bed is needed. This total is as of 7/20/22.
 
Very last minute information after the meeting. Change of venue for August.  All of the meetings from 8/2/22 through 8/30/22 will be at Q's(Mick's 66) 11:30-1:30. You can order from the menu if you want lunch.
The meeting venue for July 26 is not yet determined. WNMU is using the Sunset Room for a function.
Another change as of 7/19/22--venue for July 26 will also be at Q's.  No speaker, just a club assembly.
 
FYI--if you plan to pay with a credit card, there will be a small extra charge to help meet the restaurant's rising credit card costs.

Induction of new members:

The members of the 2022-23 board of directors were introduced. They are, from left to right in the picture at left: Steve Chavira, Niel McDonald, Leslie Bush, Art Thorn, Lucy Falley, Clara Kahn and Sunny Kellerman. Not pictured are Maggie Veeder, Carlos Lucero, Wendy Spurgeon and Jim Callender.

Adrienne Dare was introduced by Lucy. Adrienne is a retired professor who after accompanying  her mother to Oregon in 2002 to help her with her End of Life Options, became a passionate advocate in working to get the Elizabeth Whitefield End of Life Options Act passed in New Mexico in 2021. Today she spoke of the options available under this new law and who is eligible.
