Announcements:

Niel: Please put your cell phones on silent!
A reminder that next week, the 13th, we will be meeting at Q's.  Open for us from 11:30 a m to 1:30 p m.  Entrance on the left. You may order from the menu.
There will be 8 or 9 Aldo Leopold students who will be there along with Wendy Spurgeon, (a teacher from Aldo Leopold and a former Rotarian). They will be singing holiday carols.

Sunny K.: We had a holiday party on December 2nd. About 20 or so Rotarians, spouses and friends enjoyed good food and friendship. Just a note from Lucy--Maria Biondo Longton (not yet a member) donated a cheesecake and she was out of town!
Our fellowship person--Linda Lowrance--was unable to attend because she didn't feel well. Kathy Eaton was there despite problems with sciatica, and is still trying to find relief from that.

Sunny K. and Art: Presented Paul Harris awards to the following people.
Left to right: Jack Herndon, Tom Bates, Sunny McFarren, Maggie Veeder and Carlos Lucero.

Tom:  As most of you know, we are trying to do a global grant. Yesterdays' trip to Juarez with Sunny K., Art, Alice Si and Tom, included taking some Venezuelans to lunch; with Doug Winter (who also received a Paul Harris award at his little restaurant), visited a couple of shelters with Enrique Valenzuela who is in charge of all of the shelters. Doug asked that everyone be told how extreme the situation is in Juarez, i.e., lack of shelter, medical care, food.  The money donated really goes a long way there to help alleviate some of these issues.

Sunny said there will be a program about this in February.

Niel: Will forgo happy dollars because of lack of time.

Program:

Niel introduced Jerry Mullin (speaker from the Mormon church) and Sunny M. will introduce Carlos Price (speaker from the Unitiarian/Universalist Fellowship.) The third scheduled speaker, Joseph Gros, was unable to make it.
They spoke about the challenges their congregations have faced in recent years and how they have sought to address them.
