Don't forget our holiday potluck party this Friday, December 2, at Sunny and Harry Kellerman's house, at 5:30 pm. A sign-up sheet is being passed around. Address is 3910 Blackhawk Rd.
Peter F.: From the Blues for Polio concert, we seem to have made a net of $3,174.00 for Polio Plus. We also sold 31 of the plush animals. Peter would like a brief board huddle after today's meeting to discuss final expenditures.
This money will be matched 2-1 by the Gates Foundation, meaning more than $10,000 total.
Jim: The meeting on December 13 will be at the Q's--open for lunch from 11:30 to 1:30. pm. As of now, there is no speaker scheduled.
The new By-Laws committee will be chaired by Sunny K. and Peter F., and Linda Tealock and Ray Goellner have agreed to assist. If anyone else wants to join in, please do so.
The Grant County Concert Assn. is hosting a free Christmas concert, put on by the First Armored Band from Ft. Bliss on Thursday, December 15 at 7 pm in the Fine Arts Center Theater.
Sunny K.: The badge box numbers are not yet complete, but should be finished soon.
Art: The food security project is going well. About two weeks ago, Tom, Jerry and Art packed up of boxes of fresh vegetables at the Commons, and then went to Cobre Elementary, where the food was loaded into cars--the kids helped with this, and the teachers took advantage of the produce also.
On December 14, there will be another day of packing and then unpacking. 2 pm at the Commons. Volunteers needed--Sunny K. and Rosie said ok. Reminded to take pictures.
Peter H.: wished a Happy Birthday to Sunny K. and to Vlad.
Sunny K.: Every year there are a certain number of Paul Harris points that are allocated to be given away to acknowledge people who have contributed significantly to the club. Art announced the recipients as: Steve, Carlos, Jim, Lucy, Jerry and Vlad. Paul Harris started Rotary International with some colleagues in Chicago in 1905. These awards are given recognize the contributions people made to Rotary or elsewhere in their communities.
