Announcements:
Ray Goellner presented a check to Marilyn McCracken, GRMC Auxiliary President, in the amount of $1,377.00. representing the proceeds from the Silver City Piano Party Rotary fundraiser. Marilyn accepted the check with many thanks, and said "this generosity from Rotary is greatly appreciated; the auxiliary has been feeling neglected for some time." She also said that the money will be used for the Auxiliary Scholarship for nursing students. Jim Callender (Rotary co-president) is also pictured.
Tom Bates said that Doug Winter is buying some baby shower gifts
using the money from his account. Anyone wishing to donate can do so by going to his website,

Ted Pressler said that this Saturday is "Give Grandly Day."
Jim said that the 2023 auction will be at the Convention Center in April, 2023. It will be the 100th anniversary of the Silver City Rotary Club. Items will be lumped together for a total value of $100.00. May 31st will be the beneficiary application deadline. Applications are available at

Program:
The speaker today was Luis Terrazas, NM State Representative since 2021 from the 39th District. He spoke of the importance of the expansion of the opportunity scholarships, and that funds need to be available for students after the first year. He had tried to get provision for that included in the legislation, but was unable to do so. This was one example of what he described as his frustration in not being able to get a hearing for common-sense provisions he thought should be included in legislation. He also spoke of the necessity for more citizens to attend the sessions in Santa Fe, on Zoom if not in person, so as to be able to understand what goes on in the session, not just what gets reported.
