Tuesday, May 30, 2023:

Past President Jim Callender presided.
Steve Chavira led the Pledge of Allegiance, and read a brief passage honoring all veterans for Memorial Day.
Tom Bates gave the invocation.
Kathy Eaton led the Four-Way Test.

Announcements:
1. Jim said there are two openings on the Foundation Board. Both Jack Herndon and Ray Goellner are willing to run again. A motion was made to close nominations and re-appoint Jack and Ray for another three year term. Motion passed.
2. Peter F. The Foundation has about $40,000. in the bank. A slight deficit shows because Jack Isbell offered to pay for all applicants--so the Foundation paid for four, rather than two.
3. Jim said the Teacher of the Year winner, Bobbie Trujillo, was honored and very appreciative of the $1500. award.
4. The hygiene project for next year might be expanded to include basic dental and/or vision exams. The State will be paying for feminine products, so the shopping experts, Tom and Jim will not be doing those purchases.
We will need to raise $5 K to assist with the grant.
5. Sunny K. Jim Tindall will become an honorary member, and the certificate and pin are ready. Looking for additional people for the presentation, which will be Tuesday, June 6, 10:00 a.m., at the Genesis Nursing Center. Sunny, Linda, Peter H., and Jim will be there.
This is the certificate that Jim will receive, but the one he will get will not be hidden by plastic or wrinkled or with a hand holding it up!

6. 100 Year Silver City Rotary Club celebration ideas:
1)In the 4th of July parade, Harry Kellerman's truck will have J&J signs saying "Rotary Club of Silver City 1923-2023."
2)Horses? Maria has a horse that could be decorated and led, and she will think about doing that.
 3) Horse--Model T--Fancy sports car? Mark has a friend with a Model T.
Entry fees are $25.00 per entry. Sunny will underwrite cost of signs.
 4) Proclamation from the Mayor and Governor.
 5) Discussion about the Centennial Gala; where, how many people to expect or hope for, food, drink, dress.
Possibly a cash bar, hors d'oeuvres, music (Amos Torres?) $25. per person. Ned to present a budget to the club.
Joe Kellerman is working on a logo--banner. Want to get a lot of P.R., so everyone in Silver City knows about Rotary.
