Announcements:
Lucy Falley presented Rosie Higgs with a long delayed gift for her work as club president 2019-2020. Covid delayed everything, and then Rosie and Max were on a trip when we had a demotion party for Bart, Sunny K. and Jim on June 28th.

Friday August 26th, the GCCA is sponsoring the Billy Townes Jazz Quartet from El Paso. Peter has two free tickets, which were taken immediately.
Mark:
November 5, 7 p.m. at Light Hall--the Blues for Polio fundraiser.
Still looking for food and drink services for a reception before the event. There are 5 acts lined up. Looking for more sponsors; a letter will be going out this week about sponsoring.
Kathy:
Gave a resounding "well done" to Mark Richard for his work on the up-coming Blues for Polio fundraiser, which will be held November 5th, 2022 at 7 p.m. at Light Hall. Details are being worked out.
Kate:
Spoke of the cases of polio which have been discovered in New York City, and passed out literature from the CDC.
Jack Isbell:
Spoke of the tremendously good work and money put in by Doug Winter for the asylum shelters in Juarez. The matching donation program for up to $10,000.00 will continue through August 31st.
Sunny:
Tom, Sunny K., Rosie, Max and Art Thorn will pick one project at the bi-district conference for our club to pledge up to $1000.00
for a global grant.
Linda:
There will be a Pasta Fellowship Potluck on September 27th at 5:30 p.m., at Linda and Ken Lowrance's home. No noon meeting on that day.
A reminder that all of the meetings in August will be at this venue.
Since we will be paying for lunches at Q's, there will not be a charge on your Rotary bill. Lunch can be ordered from the menu. FYI: if you plan to pay with a credit card, be aware that there will be a 3.5% extra charge to help meet the restaurant's rising credit card costs. An an 18% gratuity charge is included in your bill, so there is no need for an additional tip.
If the change becomes a long-term one, we'll be making new arrangements regarding our Rotary materials (badges, gavel, bell and flags) as well as how to handle hybrid meetings.
Maggie reminded all of Fairgate, September 22-24, and if you have not yet signed up to volunteer, give Maggie a call.

Program:
Jeff Spaletta, Superintendent of Cobre Consolidated Schools,
spoke of his background and the somewhat unusual route he took
to becoming Superintendent at Cobre. He also told us about some of the challenges facing the Cobre schools and his plans to meet those challenges.
