Announcements:
Mark: Blues for Polio fundraiser: Mark spoke with Laura Howell who will do posters for the Blues for Polio fundraiser. they should be ready next week. and he has tickets for the reception and general admission. Tickets are $15.00 per person; $75.00 to attend the pre-concert reception from 5:30-7 p m., with beer, wine and food.  The concert is from 7-9 p m. There are six acts lined up. Tickets are available at First Savings Bank, Edward Jones and from Mark.
 
Maggie: Fairgate--still short 8 slots, September 22-24th. Will pass the sign up sheet around; also will pass the sign up sheet for the RFE dinner on October 18th, which will be at Kathy Eaton's house at 5:30 
.
Linda: I will be passing the sign up sheet again for the Pasta 
Fellowship Potluck on September 27th at 5:30 p.m. at our house, 100 Wagon Wheel Lane.  Linda added that several people signed up without a food choice listed. She said while there are several main entrees , dishes such as caesar salad (can be purchased ready made) would be useful with the Italian food theme. Deserts are also needed. No noon meeting on that day.
 
Carlos: A note from Sunny K. The club received the Rotary Citation for the 2021-2022 year.
 
Art: The Backpack project will be Bayard Elementary, with food packages for weekends, and the food pantry. Two members are doing matching donations, plus a $3637.00 District Grant. The budget is $11,000.00. Contributions are welcome and can be made online on our website or by check made out to Silver City Rotary Foundation. 
 
Lucy: Clara Khan will be asking for Speaker Coordinators for part of November and December. This is an early request, and we already have some speakers for November -- the 15th and 29th are still open.
 
Jim: Tom and I made stops for Hygiene project at Cobre schools last week , and will do one more in January. The board discussed this and thought it could be an ongoing signature project for the club.
 
Happy Dollars: Tom: Thank you Mark, for all the kids T-shirts.
Maggie: Jack Herndon 19 years, and Doug Winter one year as Rotary members.
 
Sunny K. accepted the appointment of District Training Team Leader.  Congratulations!!

Program: Ted Presler is the Co-Chair of the Southwest Word Fiesta. He was an early member of the original staff of the Festival of the Written Word (now the Southwest Word Fiesta), and served as co-chair from 2020-2021. He admits to being passionate about words, and gave an interesting update about the Southwest Word Fiesta.
