Tom: On behalf of Art--two volunteers are needed on Wednesday, October 11, at 2 p.m. at the Commons, to help load items to go to Bayard. Students will take over the unloading. Should be finished by 4 p.m. Leslie said she could help with loading, and Rosie said yes to helping.

Sunny: Anna, our former exchange student from Finland, responded to a birthday card with hello to all, and said she is now in medical school.

Jim: As part of the hygiene project, dentists are being asked to supply small toothpastes, brushes, etc., and are agreeing; also planning a dental hygiene clinic for 6th Street kindergarten students. Dentists and some of their techs will be doing this at a future date, probably a Friday. Dr. Beck is the only one in town who accepts Medicare, Medicaid. Rotarians will be needed to assist.

Sunny:  "Harry and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary on October 1, and we spent September in North Carolina, visiting relatives, and Harry enjoying fishing.

 

Carlos introduced Dr. Terri Sankovitz, a local Audiologist, who spoke about hearing loss. She said she would like to see the focus off hearing aids and put it back as a medical issue. "As people age, the high frequency earing does decrease, so if your spouse or partner has mild hearing loss, don't talk with a wall between you." "Let the person see your face in order to hear you better."

She said that hearing devices can help improve someone's hearing Loss of hearing can affect some more than others. Diabetics, those with kidney disease, post covid complications, heart and respiratory conditions. 

Tinnitis--if this symptom occurs suddenly, get help immediately!.

Dr. Sankovitz was not only someone who explained things clearly, but she also has a sense of humor.
