Announcements:
Niel: Please put your cell phones on silent!
We have our Rotary District Governor John Drusedum and his wife Sharon here today. Peter Falley (during the board meeting earlier) gave us the very good news that in our district,  our club raised the second highest amount of money for PoliPlus this year. There will be a regular board meeting next week after the regular meeting.

Art: Wednesday, January 11, will be the food security project at the Commons at 2 pm and at Bayard Elementary at 3 pm. Three volunteers are needed--see Art after the meeting please.

Sunny K.:
Introduced District 5520 Governor, John Drusedum.
He first said it was always a pleasure to welcome and induct new members, and today it will be Maria Biondo Longton. Maria was introduced by her sponsor, Maggie Veeder, and then inducted by District Governor Drusedum.

Happy Dollars:  Kathy Eaton is celebrating 25 years as a Rotarian!

Program: Governor Drusedum presented the new Rotary banner to Niel McDonald, our president. Because the next RI convention will be in Melbourne, Australia, incoming RI President Jennifer Jones commissioned an Aboriginal artist to design the banner; the theme of which is "Imagine Rotary."

In turn, Niel presented Governor Drusedum with a package of gourmet coffee sold by the Benedictine Monks of our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery.  He also told Governor Drusedum that the club will be making a donation to The Rotary Foundation in his name.  Governor Drusedum also presented Niel (as club president) with a $1.00 coin, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the discovery of the Salk polio vaccine.

Governor Drusedum then reminded everyone of the need to donate blood, and
said the Governor's Blood Drive Challenge has been extended through February. He also gave some highlights of his and Sharon's visits to the many Rotary clubs in District 5520 and he reminded everyone of the Rotary District 5520 conference which will be held in Roswell on April 20-23, 2023. He also thanked the club for all of its efforts locally and in the District and globally.
