Sunny asked the club for a special allocation of up to $975.00 to fund the expenses of RFE week visitors.  She also asked all Rotarians to sponsor with $20.00 to avoid using the $975.00.

Maggie, as treasurer, said that would be possible if approved by the club. This would include a small stipend for Rotarians gas money. A motion was made by Peter F. and seconded by Steve C. to accept the allocation. This allocation was approved by the membership.

 

The second item: The bi-district convention is on August 26th in El Paso. Sunny K., Tom, Art, Rosie and Max will be attending and looking for special projects the club can assist with and asked to be able to commit $1000.00 then and there for global grants with our club. Motion was made and seconded after Peter F. (as Foundation Chair) said it could be done.

It was decided that the five would pick the top three projects from the many projects listed in the catalog and present them to the club on the 23rd. 

 

Lunch can be ordered from the menu.  FYI: if you plan to pay with a credit card, be aware that there will be a 3.5% extra charge to help meet the restaurant's rising credit card costs.

A reminder that all of the meetings in August will be at this venue.

Since we will be paying for lunches at Q's, there will not be a charge on your Rotary bill.   

If the change becomes a long-term one, we'll be making new arrangements regarding our Rotary materials (badges, gavel, bell and flags) as well as how to handle hybrid meetings.

 

Sunny also said there would be a Vitalant blood drive Thursday, August 18th, at GRMC.

Many thanks to Sunny M. for the article appearing in the YUCCA about the matching funds project. The cut-off date is August 31st.

 

Tom said there would be a short huddle after the meeting about the hygienic supplies project.

 

Jim said there would not be a Foundation meeting today, but all of the signatures needed have been obtained.

 

Steve reminded everyone again that there is a Toastmasters meeting Wednesday night at 6 p.m. on zoom.

 

Rosie said her church is having a bazaar and will accept all donations.

 

Maggie reminded all of Fairgate, September 22-24, and if you have not yet signed up to volunteer, give Maggie a call.

    her new college life
 

Jeff Cramm gave a very interesting talk about disc golf here in Silver City. He explained how disc golf worked and told us that there will soon be three disc golf courses in our area. The game is good for all ages and it's really catching on.
