Meeting Notes for February 8, 2022

Announcements:
Tom Bates asked for volunteers to do inventory of hygiene products at the Commons on 2/10/22 at 10 a.m.
Rotary members are asked to bring Walmart and Food Basket plastic grocery bags to next weeks meeting. These will be used for packaging the supplies.
Tom and Jim Callender will purchase the necessary items.
Niel McDonald announced his slate of officers and board members for the coming year. If there are any other nominations, they can be written in on the secret ballot sheet. Voting by the club will be held at the February 15, 2022 meeting.

If Silver City is selected for the Rotary Friendship Exchange program, another host family is needed, plus individuals will be needed to assist with transportation, outings, etc.
The new club website, using Club Runner is now up. The address is the same as before:
www.silvercityrotary.org. Member login is in the upper right hand corner of the home page. You may have to establish your login password if you don't already have one on the District website.
The Silver Sage Bulletin is being started on the new website.
Kathy Eaton said she has a lot of donations of warm clothing, blankets, waiting to be transported to the shelters in Juarez.
"Please keep bringing donations to her home."
The State of NM and WNMU have slightly relaxed protocols re: Covid-19. Everyone must wear a mask when indoors except when eating or drinking; regardless of vaccination status. Rotary will do the same. If anyone is uncomfortable being with a possibly unvaccinated or not boosted person, meetings can be attended via zoom. Email:

Program:
On February 8, 2022, Michael Shinabery, the Education Specialist at the NM Museum of Space History in Alamogordo, gave a very interesting talk, with slides, about the Trinity Site, the first test of an atomic device, the deployment of the first atomic weapon, and its aftermath.
Upcoming:
On February 15, 2022, Arturo Barrio, Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator for Rotary Zones 26/27 and District Public Image Chair will present: Public Image=Greater Reach. "This will be a hybrid meeting and Arturo (in El Paso) will be on Zoom."
The Toastmasters demo is now scheduled for February 16, 2022 from 6-7 p.m. Steve Chavira has sent the Zoom link and it has been sent to all club members.
