Guests and Zoom Attendees:
Visiting Rotarians: Tom Westheimer (visiting Rotarian from New Hampshire) and wife, Bev, Danni Romero (new WNMU Museum Director), Eddie Flores Sr., Art Thorn, Barbara Smith, Eddie Flores (WNMU student),Will Hawkins (Silver Consolidated Schools Superintendent).
 
Other Guests: Cynthia Bettison (honorary Rotarian), and speaker Terry  Anderson. 
 
Announcements:
Four new members were inducted into Rotary. From left to right: Barbara Smith, Art Thorn (Rotarian transferring from Charlottesville, VA), and Eddie Flores (WNMU Student), Will Hawkins (Silver School Superintendent).
 
The Piano Concert will be held on April 15,2022, at 6 p.m.  in Light Hall, at WNMU. By motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, it was decided that the GRMC Auxillary, a 501(c)(3) organization, will be the fundraiser's beneficiary.  The Auxillary provides many services, including lunch programs for cancer patients, a scholarship for a GRMC employee, and donation of various knit garments for newborns.  Maggie is chairing the committee.  We will have seats for 191 people (either through ticket sales or requested donations).  
 
Tom Bates reported that all hygiene products have been delivered to the elementary and middle schools in Grant County, and another set of deliveries is planned for the fall.
 
The Sonny Brown Business nominations deadline is March 22. Steve Chavira agreed to chair a committee (joined by Kathy Eaton and Peter Falley) to select nominees.  Steve asked that nominations be sent to him by March 15th. 
 
Steve also said the weekly (Wednesday) Toastmasters meetings on Zoom are going well.  Anyone interested in participating is invited to contact him.
 
Wendy Spurgeon has been selected as Silver City's first Artistic Director for the SCCT.
 
Program: 
Terry Anderson (shown here with Rotarian Carlos Lucero) from Community Partnership for Children. She spoke about the many services offered to children (from birth) and their families in Grant County. She has been involved in this work for over 30 years.
 
Upcoming
March 15, 2022
We just found out yesterday after the Rotary meeting that the University will be completely closed next week for Spring Break.
Instead, we will be meeting at the Q's Southern Bistro (the entrance on the left side) 11:30 to 1 p.m. Thank you to Jim Callender for arranging this!  Order off the menu, and pay your own bill.  The address is 101 W. College Ave. (corner of Pope.)
 
This will not be a hybrid meeting, only in person.
