Tuesday, June 28, 2022:
Demotion party was held at the Falley's home.
Because of Covid, there had not been a demotion party for three years. Past presidents Rosie Higgs, Bart Roselli, Sunny Kellerman and Jim Callender were set to have one group demotion; however,  Rosie was unable to attend.

Sunny Kellerman swore in Niel McDonald as 2022-23 President.
Niel then joined with Sunny Kellerman in inducting his board members for the year:
President elect--Carlos Lucero, Secretary--Leslie Bush, Treasurer--Maggie Veeder, Club Service & Public Image Chair--Lucy Falley, Development Chair--Art Thorn, Youth Services Chair--Wendy Spurgeon, Community & International Projects Chair --  Steve Chavira, Immediate past-presidents--Sunny Kellerman and Jim Callender. Assistant Board Secretary--Jerry Outzs.  (Note:  Wendy and Steve were not present.)

July 5, 2022 meeting: Club Assembly
Guests: Linda Lowrance and Anacaite Caperton.

Announcements:
Niel McDonald presided over the meeting.

Jim reported that the auction committee has met several times and has determined that no appropriate auction beneficiaries have applied.  Discussion in the club meeting included speculation that most not-for-profit organizations are not yet in a position (post-Covid) to apply for program funding.  Further discussion focused on other possible fund-raising ideas and, in particular, what we might adopt as a "signature event."  When a decision has been made the two auction beneficiary applicants will be notified.

Incoming treasurer, Maggie Veeder, said that the proposed budget will include a $10 per person per quarter increase in dues.
Club approval will be sought when the entire proposed budget is presented.

Jim Callender stated that there may be a change of club meeting venue for the month of August. He will confirm this with Micks 66 and let us know.  President Niel offered to donate a microphone and speaker, if we elect to make this change.  Attendees will order food from the menu, if desired.

If the change becomes a long-term one, we'll be making new arrangements regarding our Rotary materials (badges, gavel, bell and flags) as well as how to handle hybrid meetings.

Sunny K. said that Donna Pedace has confirmed a total of 8 people (three couples and two singles) for our RFE visit in October.
Kathy said there is a RFE committee meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at her house.

Maggie announced that the Commons is having a "Gala in the Gardens" event July 23rd from 6-10 p.m.  She encouraged Rotarians and friends to attend and flyers were distributed.

President Niel shared his vision for our Rotary year:  Be kind to one another, handle issues privately, and focus on ways we can help the needy in our community.
