The total donation amount for the Maui Disaster victims is $3400.00.
Possible another Rotary yard sale early next year. Peter H. has many items which would require moving to a sale location.

"We had a committee meeting regarding the scholarships just before this meeting. Main points discussed are 1) scholarships will be for Grant County students, post high school, academic and vocational. 2) must coordinate advertising with times recommended by teachers. 3) find out from Will exactly what the state does pay for. 4) need a chief coordinator to lead the project."
Jim:
Possibly hear of some small projects involving kids, that Rotary could support.
Program: Carlos introduced our own Will Hawkins as today's speaker. Will is the Silver Consolidated Schools Superintendent, and spoke about the "Silver Schools Facilities Master Plan." He pointed out that Silver schools compare favorably to other schools around the state in terms of academic performance, but that there are significant facilities upgrades that are needed to improve the educational environment in the schools. He explained that the primary support for facilities improvements in the schools comes from local taxation and that the schools are limited in what they can do because of Silver City's relatively low mill levy which is the basis for funding the schools' facilities master plan.
